“Just back from a fantastic 4 day cycling weekend with bikeweekender.com, which meant we could cram in 3.5 days cycling into the long weekend, taking just 2 days off work. The location was superb with easy access to lots of classic Tour de France Cols and the team were great helping us plan routes to fit our ability.”
“What we really liked about Bike Weekender was the way they made sure you had a great trip, with nothing to think about except the cycling. From picking us up at the airport in the minibus, to providing amazing breakfasts/dinners, everything was just easy (except the cycling!) Thanks again and hopefully see you again to climb some old favourites and explore some new ones.”
The video below showcases some of the stunning scenery our guests and team get to ride each summer, surrounded by Alpine meadows and expansive blue skies.
Though wherever you choose to ride, you can rest assured that we will make it a cycling holiday for you to remember!
Lake Annecy & the Aravis – the perfect base for cycling short breaks
Bike Weekender’s home base is in the beautiful Aravis region of the French Alps, only an hour away from Geneva airport.
Annecy and the Aravis are steeped in cycling culture and history, and regularly play host to the Tour de France and the Criterium du Dauphiné. You’ll ride through unspoiled farming villages, lush green meadows and experience the charm of traditional Alpine life as you ride the Cols de Colombière, Aravis, Croix Fry, Forclaz and Arpettaz, to name but a few!
On top of this, Annecy, with its’ medieval old town and crystal-clear lake, provide an unforgettable setting for cycling – or perhaps swimming and relaxing off the bike.
Southern Alps, Provence & Côte d’Azur – the best of cycling in France
The majestic Southern French Alps are a cyclist’s dream, with the legendary climbs to Alpe d’Huez, Col du Galibier and Col d’Izoard just a few of the famous names from the Tour de France that we can help you conquer.
Provence and the Ventoux region offer riding with spectacular contrasts, from rolling vineyards and lavender fields, to the gruelling ascent of majestic Mont Ventoux, one of the most famous cycle climbs in the world.
The Côte d’Azur combines glittering sea, palm trees and beach-side glamour with quiet roads through the hills and green forests of the Massif des Maures a little way inland.
Summer 2020 Tour de France, Cyclosportives & Special Road Cycling Events
Each year the Tour de France usually has a number of stages in the Alps, meaning that many of the cols in our area have featured in the iconic race over the years. This gives our guests the ideal opportunity to tackle the same roads for themselves.
In 2020 the Tour has 4 stages in the vicinity of the French Alps, including 2 within riding distance from our home base in the Aravis mountains. Once again we are offering our popular Tour de France ‘watch and ride’ weekend break, where you can watch a live mountain stage and ride climbs made popular by the Tour for yourself.

The Etape du Tour 2020 is being held in Nice, replicating stage 2 of this year’s Tour de France. Whilst we won’t be offering a support package for this year’s event, you do have the opportunity to ride the routes used in the 2016 or 2018 Etape/Tour de France for yourself.
If you would like to challenge yourself to ride these routes, as well as many other cols made famous by the Tour de France, join us on one of our road cycling breaks in 2020.
